Aileen Wuornos (Charlize Theron) is a prostitute in Florida who meets a girl named Selby (Christina Ricci) in a lesbian bar. They talk for a while and they start to form a relationship. Selby runs away from her aunt’s house to go on the road with Aileen. Aileen tries to find a respectable job but, when she realizes how difficult that is without any social skills or education, she becomes prostitute again. She is raped in an isolated area and than she kills the responsible man. After that, she kills all the men she feels dangerous. Then she takes their money trying to buy a new life for herself and Selby.
For this interpretation, Charlize Theron, won the Oscar of best actress. In that film many things were changed: the attention is focused on the two women’s love story and Aileen comes out as an interesting and pathetic person. I suggest you to watch this film and compare it with the Aileen’s real interviews.
TRUE STORY
Aileen Carol Pittman was born on February 29th, 1956. She never knew her father because he was a psychopathic pedophilic who killed himself. In 1960, Diane,the mother, gave her parents (Lauri e Britta Wuornos) her two children, Aileen e Keith, then she disappeared. So Aileen grew up with her grandparents in Michigan, but she thought that they were her parents. When she was 12 she discovered the real situation and she was shocked. Lauri Wuornos was an alcoholic, and he used to punish the children using, violently, his belt as a whip. When Aileen was 6, she gashed her face while she was playing with an acid and some matches. Some years later she started to have a sexual relation with his brother. Year after year she started to have sexual intercourse with a lot of men. When she was 13 she became pregnant. Her grandmother died after convulsions, her grandfather killed himself and her brother died for a throat cancer.
She forced herself into prostitution around Florida and Georgia.
When she was 20 she married a 69 years old rich man, Lewis Fell. She mistreated her husband and she punched him untill the day she was arrested for aggression and Lewis Fell revoked the marriage.
Aileen Wuornos lived between unsuccessful relationships, prostitution, breaking and entering, documents falsification and armed robbery. She was confused, took drugs and she tried to suicide twice.
In 1986 Aileen entered a gay pub in Daytona and here a 24 years old girl, Tyria Moore, falled in love with her. The two women travelled and sustained themselves selling their bodies.
Victims:
1)Richard Mallory, electronic shop owner in Florida. In December 1989 his abandoned Cadillac near Daytona was found. On December 13th his body was found on the Interstate 95, Florida. He was three times shoted with a 22 diameter weapon. He was wrapped in a rubber carpet.
2)Davis Spears, 43 years old. His body was discovered on June 1st 1990 in the Citrus County. He was naked and many times shoted with a 22 diameter weapon. Near the body there was a used condom. He was a trucker and his truck was found some days later on the Interstate 75. The licence plate was removed.
3)On June 6th was found a naked body on the Intestate 75. He was Charles Carskaddon. He died for nine gunshot wounds, diameter 22.
4)On July 5th cops inspected an abandoned car. It was a grey 1988 Pontiac Sunbird. All the windows were broken and there were also some blood traces. The licence plate was removed. The owner was Peter Siems, a 65 years old pensioned, missing on the 7th of June. His body was found some days later.
5)Troy Burress’s truck was found on the State Road 19. His body was found 5 days later in the National Forest of Ocala, 8 miles far from the truck. Cause of death: two gunshot wounds, diameter 22.
6)Dick Humphreys was an inspector of the Florida’ special corps. On the September 11th 1990 Dick disappeared. The next day he was found dead because of 7 gunshot wounds, diameter 22. His car was located in the County of Suwanee.
7)Some months later was found another naked body in the Dixie County. He was Walter Gino Antonio, a 60 years old trucker and security guard. He had been shoted four times. The weapon was 22 diameter. His car was found five days later.
Aileen was arrested for having bought some weapons illegally. Investigators didn’t talk about the murders because they didn’t have enough evidence to condemn her. However they have a plan but they needed
Tyria Moore. They found her in Pittston, Pennsylvania. Tyria was scared of Aileen and so she collaborate easily.Cops put her in telephone contact with Aileen. The two talked for three days in a row and Aileen was sure that she was in jail only for the weapons issue and that she would soon be released.
Tyria’s frequent questions about the murders, made Aileen suspicious so she realized that the calls had been intercepted.
On the January 16th Aileen Wuornos throw in the towel: ” You are innocent and so I’ll protect you. I don’t want you to go to jail. If I have to make a confession I’ll do it.”
She was arrested on January 16th , 1991.
During the interrogatory she exculpated Tyria, as she promised.
Then Aileen told that she had killed those men because they raped, kidnapped and punched her. She declared herself innocent and she said that everything she had done was for self-defence.
Every time she described her story something, some details were different and at odds with the whole story.
At 9.47 a.m. of October 9th, 2002, Aileen Wuornos was executed with a lethal injection.
“I’d just like to say I’m sailing with the Rock and I’ll be back like Independence Day with Jesus, June 6, like the movie, big mothership and all. I’ll be back.” (Aileen Wuornos’s last words. With the name “The Rock” she refers to Jesus)

.During the trial she confessed that all her victims wanted to rape her. After that she met the journalists and began to brag herself for having had 250.000 sexual relations. Thit is a contradiction and it is also impossible, because it means to have 35 sexual intercourse a day for 20 years!
